Hypertech ( is a Greek SME founded in 1997. Its Energy Labs unit specialises in offering ICT solutions for the Smart Grid of the future. It aims to provide flexible solutions for small and medium-sized electricity consumers and integrated solutions for electric utilities and service providers (Aggregators) in the field of demand management. The business strategy of Hypertech includes research and development of advanced technologies, to create a full suite of solutions and products appealing to everyone involved in the electricity market, namely:

  • Solutions for consumers: tools for creating detailed consumption profiles (Consumer Profiling), tools for personalized billing reports (Informative Billing) and innovative solutions for building automation and power-to-heat (thermal storage) in typical water heating and space heating devices.
  • Solutions for public agencies and business /industrial consumers: multi-parametric solutions to optimize energy consumption without compromising business performance targets (Enterprise Performance and Sustainability), tools for the analysis and real-time monitoring of power consumption data (Billing Analysis, Monitoring and Optimization), along with energy consumption forecasting and reporting tools.
  • Solutions for utilities and energy services companies: tools for analysing consumer portfolios and shaping optimized billing strategies, innovative solutions for forecasting and management of electricity demand, tools for electricity trading optimization and risk management and cutting-edge solutions for ensuring semantic interoperability between infrastructure / devices / systems of the Smart Grid, adopting the approach of the Internet of Things (Cloud and Standards-Based Services – “Internet of the Grid”).

Hypertech has been actively involved in EU co-funded R&D programmes since its establishment. It is currently involved as a coordinator, technical manager or main technology partner the FP7 and H2020 projects: MERLON, BIMERR, NOVICE, FLEXCoop, PLANET, HOLISDER, DRIMPAC, INERTIA, BESOS, OS4ES, Heat4Cool, WiseGRID, MOEEBIUS, ORBEET and NOBEL GRID. Hypertech holds vast experience on various aspects of the DSM spectrum and the development of innovative tools both for the consumer, as well as, for the utilities and aggregators.

main tasks and responsibilities within the project

‘Hypertech is responsible for leading WP7 of the FLEXIGRID project. WP7 focuses on ensuring that the outputs and results of the FLEXIGRID project are easily replicable across Europe. Hypertech will carry out an analysis of potential obstacles to innovation under the current and future market design context as part of Task 7.2.

Hypertech is one of the solution developers within the FLEXIGRID project, leading the development of a ‘Building dynamic thermal model’ within Task 4.5.

Finally, Hypertech will lead Task 2.5 focusing on ensuring the proper handling, management and protection of any customers’ research data generated and processed within the project.
