CEDEC represents the interests of more than 1500 local and regional energy companies – having local and regional authorities as their shareholders – serving 85 million electricity and gas customers & connections. Together they have an annual turnover of 120 billion in ten European countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.

These predominantly small-and medium-sized local and regional energy companies are active as:
• Electricity and heat generators,
• Electricity, gas and heat distribution grid & metering operators
• Energy (services) suppliers.

By employing ca. 350.000 people and investing in local infrastructure, these companies make a significant contribution to local and regional sustainable economic development. Local energy companies provide services which are reliable, sustainable and close to the consumer.
Founded in 1992 in Brussels, CEDEC has been representing the interest of its members towards European decisionmakers for more than 25 years, and is a widely recognised interest representation.

main tasks and responsibilities within the project

CEDEC will lead WP9 “Communication and Dissemination activities”. Due to its large expersise and wide contact network in Smart Grids field, CEDEC will ensure the proper communication and diseemination of the activities carried out throughout the project as well as the achieved results.

Moreover, CEDEC will leas T7.3 regarding regulatory framework and policy recommendations to legislators.
